Coconut (Cocos nucifera L) belonging to the genus Cocos can easily grow in tropical areas. This plant is more often found in coastal areas with high levels of humidity. The fruit is round and long. Tobelo is one of the sub-districts located in the North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province, Indonesia. It is the administrative center or capital of the North Halmahera Regency. Based on the 2009 North Halmahera BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics) data, as one of the largest coconut-producing regions in Indonesia, this widely-known commodity still tops the chart for Tobelo. Its coconut plantation area is vast 61,143.65 hectares and produces approximately 83,379.60 tons of coconuts annually with a total of 36,112 farmers.
