TRIBUNBATAM.id, TANJUNGPINANG – In the midst of unfavorable world economic conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has spread to various countries in the world, processed-coconut-products in the form of cans organic coconut milk from the Riau Islands (Kepri) are re-exported to Germany.
This time, PT Bionesia Organic Foods exported 4,321 cans of coconut milk or 24.8 tons equal to Rp 672,903,936 invoice value to Germany.
Ainal Ikram, the Tanjungpinang City Agricultural Quarantine Officer, said that his office inspected the coconut milk for export to Germany. In addition, the Quarantine Office also inspects coconuts imported from Natuna Regency as raw materials to be processed by PT Bionesia.
“Organic coconut raw materials are obtained from farmers around the Riau Islands. This is a good opportunity for coconut farmers, that the company will continuously buying their coconuts, as long as it meets the organic standards they’ve set,” said Ainal.
He added that in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak that hit the world, farmers must continue to farm for world food availability. Agricultural Quarantine will continue to serve to ensure the health and safety of agricultural commodities.
