Story of NICO

Established in 2019, PT. Natural Indococonut Organik (NICO) strongly believes that coconut is one of nature’s most unique nutritious foods.

Our products are made from natural ingredients. Nature is the foundation of our company. Since coconuts are extremely versatile, we try to take advantage of every part of it and develop valuable products that can be useful to our customers.

Coconuts are commonly used to produce coconut milk and coconut water. However, other parts of coconuts are wasted since not many people know how to utilize them. Out of approximately 50 billion coconuts harvested worldwide, around 85% of the shells are wasted.

In order to reduce waste and pollution caused by burning coconut waste, we are utilizing coconut shells and coconut husks as a resource for our high-quality products. For example, we use coconut shells to produce coconut charcoal briquette and we also produce coconut husk that can further be used as material to produce doormats, brooms, etc.

2019

  • PT. Natural Indococonut Organik (NICO) established
  • PT Bionesia Organic Foods become part of PT Natural Indococonut Organik (NICO)
  • Production capacity up to 70.000 nuts per day
  • Our products are low fat desiccated coconut, high fat desiccated coconut, coconut chips, and can coconut cream.

2020

  • Production capacity increased to 100.000 nuts per day
  • In February, NICO set up the second factory with a production capacity up to 500.000 nuts per day
  • In September, BOF’s (NICO’s) first export to India and Germany
  •  

2021

  • In January, BOF (NICO) exported coconut flour to Bangladesh
  • In April, BOF (NICO) exported desiccated coconut to Sri Lanka
  • In April, PT Indogemilang Coconut Lestari (IGCL) was established as coconut fiber processing factory (cocopeat and cocofiber). IGCL became part of NICO

2022

  • In February, BOF started its first export to USA and started produce MamaKoKo coconut milk in TetraPak package.
  • In March, IGCL started its coconut dehusking operations, while BOF was ready to produce VCO (virgin coconut oil)
  • In April, BOF joined “Natural & Organic Product Europe” exhibition in London, England.
  • In March, MamaKoKo coconut milk was launched commercially in Indonesia
  • In July, BOF joined “Biofach Into Organic” exhibition in Nurnberg, Germany
  • In September, NICO joined “Food Hotel Asia” exhibition in Singapore
  • In October, NICO joined “SIAL Interfood” exhibition in Paris, France.
  • In November, NICO joined “SIAL Interfood” exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2023

  • In June - July, NICO was present for the first time at the Jakarta Fair 2023 exhibition, which was held at JiExpo Kemayoran.
  • In November, NICO was again present at the SIAL Interfood exhibition held at JiExpo Kemayoran

2024

  • In February, NICO again participated in the "Biofach Into Organic" exhibition in Nurnberg, Germany.
  • NICO returns to participated at the FHA-Food & Beverage in Singapore on 23-26 April

Factory Location

PT. Natural Indococonut Organik (NICO) – Tobelo

An integrated coconut factory with a production capacity of 500.000 coconuts per day, located at Kupa-kupa district, South Tobelo, North Halmahera. We produce full range of derivatives coconut-based products.

PT. Bionesia Organic Foods (BOF) – Bintan

Established in 2018, BOF is located at Bintan Industrial Estate and focuses on export of organic coconut-based product i.e coconut milk, coconut milk beverages, coconut chips, desiccated coconut, VCO, etc.

PT. Indo Gemilang Coconut Lestari (IGCL) – Bintan

IGCL is a coconut dehusking factory located at Bintan Industrial Estate, Lobam. IGCL produces and supplies dehusked quality coconut to BOF, and also produces other coconut-based derivatives products.
