This was conveyed by the Regent of North Halmahera Regency, Frans Manery. According to him, the presence of PT NICO can open up market opportunities for coconut farming communities in North Halmahera Regency. “North Halmahera has a large coconut area. Therefore, the presence of PT NICO is one solution to open market opportunities for coconut farmers,” said Frans, Friday, May 20, 2022.
The regent for these two periods said that apart from opening up market opportunities, the presence of PT NICO will also absorb workers spread across North Halmahera Regency. “Hopefully in November 2022 the factory will be completed and it is confirmed that in early January 2023 the factory will start running,” he said. That way, Frans asked the entire community of North Halmahera to support so that the price of coconut could be stable.
In addition, he also requested that the community no longer cut down coconut trees and if possible replant the coconuts. “Usually it has to be produced into new copra for sale, in the future it won’t be because people only sell fruit and get money right away,” he said.
