(North Maluku – Info Ambon) State Electricity Company PLN Main Regional Unit for Maluku and North Maluku (UIW MMU), through its Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Tobelo, has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting industrial sector growth in North Halmahera Regency.
On Tuesday (December 2, 2025), PLN UP3 Tobelo officially carried out the energizing process for a power capacity upgrade for PT Natural Indococonut Organik (NICO), increasing the supply from 3,465 kVA to 5,540 kVA.
PT NICO is a growing coconut processing company that has expanded its market reach from national to export levels. The additional power supply is essential to support increased production capacity and the operation of higher-capacity machinery.
General Manager of PLN UIW MMU, Noer Soeratmoko, emphasized that strengthening electricity supply for the industrial sector is part of PLN’s strategy to accelerate regional economic growth.
“PLN is committed to ensuring that every industrial customer receives adequate and sustainable electricity supply. The power upgrade for PT NICO is one of our steps to strengthen the industrial ecosystem based on regional potential, especially coconut commodities, which are a leading product of North Halmahera”, said Soeratmoko.
He added that this power increase aligns with PLN’s efforts to boost productive electricity consumption, encourage investment, and create new job opportunities in potential regions.
“When industry grows, the impact is directly felt by farmers, MSMEs, and the local supply chain. PLN wants to ensure that electricity needs do not become an obstacle to business expansion,” he added.
Manager of PLN UP3 Tobelo, Anton Tonapa, explained that the energizing process was conducted after a series of technical inspections to ensure the reliability of the distribution infrastructure.
“The power upgrade for PT NICO reflects industrial customers’ trust in PLN’s services. We ensured that all equipment and networks met technical standards before the energizing process,” he said.
He stressed that UP3 Tobelo continues to strengthen the readiness of its electrical system to serve both large- and medium-scale customers.
“We fully support the growth of the coconut industry sector in North Halmahera. With a stable and secure electricity supply, companies can increase productivity while expanding their market reach,” Anton stated.
A representative of PT NICO’s management, Sugiyarto, expressed appreciation for PLN’s service process, which was considered fast and responsive.
“This power upgrade is very important for us to increase production capacity. Thank you to PLN UP3 Tobelo for working quickly and professionally,” he said.
