Ice Gempol Pleret

Ice Gempol Pleret is one of Central Java’s signature drinks. The savory taste of the white round-shaped gempol and the sweet taste of the long flat pleret make it loved by many people.

Main Ingredients of Gempol Pleret:

  • 200gr rice flour
  • 60ml water

Gempol Ingredients:

  • 100gr rice flour (from the main ingredient)
  • 65ml boiling hot water
  • 1 tsp salt

Pleret ingredients:

  • 100gr rice flour (from the main ingredient)
  • 65ml boiling hot water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 drop of pink food coloring

Coconut Cream Sauce Ingredients:

  • 3 pcs MamaKoKo coconut cream
  • 800ml water
  • 9 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 pandan leaves
  • Salt to taste

How to Cook:

  1. Prepare 200g of rice flour, then gradually mix 60ml of water into the rice flour while stirring by hand until slightly moist.
  2. Now make it into lumps and steam for 20 minutes.
  3. Then prepare a container to store the main ingredients and crush the steamed lumps. If it is evenly divided into 2 for gempol and pleret ingredients
  4. Now we make gempol. Slowly add 65ml of boiling hot water to the ingredients while stirring until evenly distributed.
  5. After that, round it again, then grate the ingredients using a cheese grater. If it has been grated, add 1 tsp salt and stir.
  6. The ingredients are formed into rounds for the gempol and steamed for 20 minutes.
  7. To make the pleret, slowly add 65ml of boiling hot water and stir until it forms a lump.
  8. After that, add 1 drop of pink food coloring, then stir until evenly distributed 8.
  9. Prepare a spoon that has been applied with vegetable oil so that it does not stick, take the pleret material that has been rounded, then flatten it on the spoon. After flattening, roll it up and repeat until it runs out.
  10. After the pleret has been formed, now it’s time to steam it for 30 minutes.
  11. Prepare a pot to make the coconut cream sauce. Add 3 pcs MamaKoKo coconut cream, 900ml water, 9 tbsp sugar, 2 pandan leaves and salt to taste, then stir until boiling.
  12. Gempol pleret ice is ready to serve
